In the fall of 1948 Stan realized his dream by becoming the head baseball coach, as well as an assistant football coach at New Albany High School. Almost single handily he got the program off the ground and running. For the next 25 years he coached the Bulldogs. In the first 22 seasons Sajkos teams never had a losing season, and only two losing seasons in those 25. His teams produced six SIAC championships , four IHSAA sectional titles and one regional championship. His overall winning percentage is an outstanding 72%. In 1962 he started the prestigious New Albany Baseball Invitational Tourney which is now named for him as of 1998.

There wasnt much he did not accomplish as a high school athlete in Sullivan or in his college days at Indiana State University. As a credit to his success he was selected to the Southwest High Schools Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 1998

He also was New Albanys athletics director for 13 years where he was instrumental in the initiating of the sports program that includes 21 varsity sports including a full program for the girl athletes.

Stan, and the former Helen Wools of Terre Haute will have been married 50 years in 1999. They have a daughter, Cara, who graduated from Indiana State and a son, Craig, who graduated from Purdue.
