BOB SHINKAN—Munster High School—ACTIVE
The Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association have added five more former players, coaches and others with ties to Indiana and significant contributions to the game of baseball during its 2014 induction ceremony on Jan. 23, 2015. We are proud to announce that one of those new members include Bob Shinkan. Here is a short profile of his accomplishments.
Coach Shinkan has been working in the baseball coach’s box for 26 years. He played and coached under Mike Niksic, a 1996 Hall of Fame inductee. There have been only two head baseball coaches at Munster High School. Bob has a record of 583-291-1 in his tenure at Munster. Bob’s wins have taken his Mustangs to nine Sectional titles, four Regionals, one Semi-state and a State Championship in 2002.
Bob has also won 9 Conference titles.
Bob was the 2002 State Coach of the year and can count 15 other local and conference Coach of the Year awards. He was a North All-Star coach in 2001 and has been very involved in work on various IHSBCA committees. Nine of his players have been selected as North All-Stars, 10 of his players have earned All-State honors while 21 have been named to the All-Academic teams. Four of his players have played professionally.
