Jim Turner
Coach - Logansport High SchoolHe spent 28 seasons
as the head coach of the "Berries" from 1964-91.
His career coaching statistics are outstanding winning 582 games and losing only 188.
During that stint there were four state championships, 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1991.
Logansport was the state tourney runner-up in the 1989 season and was a member of the
Final Four in 1990. Jims teams compiled 22 sectional titles, 19 straight, 11
regional titles and 6 semi-state crowns. His teams were crowned North Central Conference
Champs nine times.
Three times Jim was selected the Indiana High School State Coach of the Year, in 1975,
1977 and 1979. He had the privilege to coach in the first North-South All Star Series
began in 1975, and also coach in the 1977 and 1979 All Star Series.
His induction into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame came in 1980 and his retirement
from the game in 1991. |
