A graduate of Merrillville High School in 1945 Bill went to
Valparaiso University and graduated in 1950 with B.S. and from Indiana
University in 1961 with his Masters Degree.
He retired from Merrillville in 1989 after a 35 year coaching
career, 34 of those years was spent as the head baseball coach. In
that time his teams compiled a record of 498 Wins, 342 Losses and had
17 Ties. His teams were the conference champions five times, they won
nine IHSAA sectional titles, two regionals and had 21 winning seasons.
He was a member of the IHSBCA, the Indiana Coaches Association, and
the National Baseball Coaches Association.
