As head coach at South Bend Adams for 29 years his teams compiled a record of 474 wins and 333 losses. Included in those victories were four Northern Indiana Conference Championships, 1970,71,79, and 88. He had IHSAA Sectional Champions in 1971, 78, 78, and 93.

In 1983-84 he was coach of the Junior Olympics team which won a National Championship. Presently is an instructor in the fall baseball league hosted by former Clay coach Jim Reinebold.

He has been married for 31 years to Charlotte and they have three sons Michael, baseball coach at Caston High School, Matthew, graduate of Butler and played minor league baseball for two years with the Phillies and is now assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University, and Steve, a DePauw graduate and is in business in the Indianapolis area.
