To date John has been President of the nationally recognized
Wildcat Baseball League in Ft. Wayne for 38 years. This outstanding
league annually has over 4,000 participants, and it is a league where
everybody plays. Since 1961 there have been over 172,000 registrants
in this widely honored baseball league. Under John’s direction the
Wildcat program has gathered national recognition and has been
featured in four national magazines and a special on N.B.C. News. His
outstanding leadership has garnered many honors for John and the
Wildcat Baseball League including his being recognized as a Sagamore
of the Wabash.
In 1991 he retired from the Ft. Wayne public schools after 30 years
of service. Nineteen of those were as a junior high teacher and coach.
The last 14 years were at Ft. Wayne North where he was an
administrator, counselor and athletic director. John was selected as
President of the Wildcat Baseball League in 1965 and has been
president since. As the chief administrator he oversees and directs 90
salaried persons and the work on over 40 baseball diamonds.
