Biography:

A graduate of Southwestern High School and Purdue University, McCutcheon High School has been home to Jake as head baseball coach since 1979. In those 21 seasons his teams have won 464 games, lost 209 for a winning percentage of .689. Included in those winning seasons were 14 twenty win seasons and two seasons when Jakes teams won thirty games.

His teams have won eight Conference Championships and he was named Conference Coach of the Year in six of those seasons, and was the IHSBCA Regional Coach of the Year four times. The Mavericks have won five sectional titles, three regional titles, two semi state titles which netted two state finals appearances winning the State Championship in 1999 and finishing State Runner-up in 1994. The state tourney record for McCutcheon is 3722.

A member of the IHSBCA for 26 years he has held every position and committee post including president of the organization in 1984. Memberships in the ABCA, BCA, IIAAA and NIAAA dot his resume.

In 1975 he founded the Tippecanoe Baseball League which serves the greater Lafayette youth baseball community for players from age five to sixteen. In 1992 and 1999 the Colt representative, ages 15-16, were the World Series Champions. In 1998 he founded the Tippecanoe Youth Baseball League which serves the Tippecanoe County youth baseball for ages 11-14. In 1998 he helped coach the Bronco All Star Team, ages 13-14, to the Bronco World Series in Monterey, California..

Eighty-four players have been named All-Conference, eleven were named to the North All Star Team and five players have been named First Team All State. Eight former assistants have been head coaches in Indiana.
